Job Description – Chef

Position Title: Chef
Employer: Lil Kitch
Location: Moonee Ponds, VIC 3039
Employment Type: Full-Time (38 hours per week)
Salary: AUD $77,000 – $90,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. The salary will be determined at the time of appointment within this range.

Position Summary

Lil Kitch is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to oversee the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals while maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene, and kitchen management standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, cook, and present a variety of high-quality dishes.
Develop and update menus in consultation with management.
Prepare, season, and cook food in accordance with recipes and customer requirements.
Monitor the quality of food throughout preparation and presentation.
Estimate food requirements and control food costs.
Order, receive, inspect, and manage kitchen inventory and supplies.
Maintain appropriate stock levels and minimise food wastage.
Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations.
Supervise, train, and support kitchen staff to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
Coordinate food preparation during busy service periods to ensure timely service.
Monitor kitchen equipment and arrange maintenance or repairs where required.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment.
Assist in developing new menu items and seasonal specials.
Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
Perform other duties consistent with the position of Chef as directed by management.

Skills and Qualifications

Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related field.
Minimum of 1 years of relevant full-time experience as a Chef (or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and Australian food safety standards.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to supervise and train kitchen staff.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays as required.

Employment Conditions

Hours: 38 hours per week (full-time).
Salary: AUD $77,000 – $90,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on qualifications, experience, and performance.
Annual leave, personal leave, and other entitlements will be provided in accordance with the applicable Australian workplace laws and the employee's employment contract.

Pay: From $39.00 per hour
