Winter Malvern is a well-established café located in the heart of Malvern, Victoria. We are known for delivering high-quality breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients in a welcoming and customer-focused environment. We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our professional kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of kitchen operations. Prepare, cook and present high-quality breakfast, brunch and lunch menu items in accordance with established recipes and standards. Supervise kitchen staff and provide training and guidance where required. Ensure food is prepared and served consistently to a high standard. Assist with menu planning and the development of seasonal and innovative dishes. Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation. Manage stock rotation, ordering and inventory control to minimise wastage. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements. Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment. Assist head chef in rostering and coordinating kitchen operations during busy service periods. Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team and management to ensure excellent customer service. Perform other duties as directed by the Head Chef or management.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery) or equivalent. At least one years of full-time post-qualification experience as a Chef or Sous Chef. Experience working in a busy café or restaurant environment. Strong knowledge of modern Australian cuisine, food preparation techniques and kitchen operations. Sound understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, leadership and organisationalskills. Availability to work weekends, public holidays and flexible shifts as required.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $89,226.76 per year
