Our Venues:
Our venues Ormond House, Luminaire, Glasshouse and State Library Victoria provide stunning event spaces for corporate dinners, conferences, cocktail parties, private occasions, weddings, milestone celebrations, and everything in-between. In addition to our venues we also have a Production Kitchen in North Melbourne to support the volume of events within our venues.
Position:
We are looking for an experienced Café Chef to join our kitchen team at our retail venue within the State Library Victoria in Melbourne.
Main duties:
Working from menus created by The Big Group's culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting our daily café offerings to a consistently high standard. This role is suited to a confident, organised chef who enjoys working independently and takes pride in producing fresh, high-quality food.
You will be responsible for managing your section, maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards, and ensuring dishes are prepared efficiently and beautifully presented in our Cafe display by a set time each day.
You will be making sandwiches, wraps, easy to go breakfast items. Completing prep for the following days and communicate with our production and Ops teams for ordering and feedback on Items. Some days you may be required to complete internal catering orders, this will be arranged ahead of time.
Skills and experience required:
We're looking for someone who is reliable, self-motivated, and passionate about great food. Previous experience in a busy café or similar fast-paced kitchen is essential, along with strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
