Ruma Rooftop Pty Ltd is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team on a full-time basis. Set in the heart of New Farm, Ruma is a rooftop escape shaped by tropical warmth and effortless style. The restaurant offers quality-led dining using fresh, seasonal produce and a vibrant, considered cocktail and wine list.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and is eager to contribute creatively to a dynamic menu.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing and cooking high-quality dishes in accordance with venue standards
Assisting in the development and execution of seasonal menus
Managing mise en place and daily kitchen preparation
Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and WHS compliance
Monitoring stock rotation, storage, and inventory control
Working efficiently during high-volume service periods
Assisting in training junior kitchen staff where required
Maintaining consistency in food presentation and portion control

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum 1 years’ experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
Relevant trade qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Reliable, organised, and professionally presented
Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Employment Details

Full-time permanent position
Annual salary package of $77,000-83,000 plus Superannuation
