We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team in a hands-on role. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of their assigned section, overseeing food preparation, cooking and presentation while maintaining consistently high standards of quality, hygiene and food safety.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation, cooking and presentation of meals within the assigned kitchen section
- Supervise and support junior chefs, cooks, apprentices and other kitchen staff
- Ensure all food is prepared to a consistently high standard and in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain effective mise en place and ensure the section is fully prepared for daily service and upcoming functions
- Coordinate the timely preparation and delivery of food during service
- Maintain strict food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
- Conduct and record daily temperature checks in accordance with HACCP procedures
- Monitor food quality, portion control, labour use and food wastage within the section
- Assist with ordering perishable and non-perishable food items, stock control and stocktaking
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen before, during and after service
About you
- Minimum 18 months of relevant professional experience as a Chef or in a closely related commercial kitchen role
- Relevant formal culinary qualification, with a minimum of Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Demonstrated experience working in a commercial restaurant, hospitality or food-service environment
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, kitchen operations and food presentation
- Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
- Ability to supervise and support junior kitchen staff
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays and busy service periods where required
Pay: $81,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
