PAYROLL AND FINANCE / RESOURCE ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

Part-time | Barraba

Community College Northern Inland is seeking an experienced and highly organised Payroll and Finance / Resource Administration Officer to join our Corporate Services team at our Barraba Campus.

This is a varied position combining responsibility for CCNI’s payroll and day-to-day finance functions with the coordination of training resources, learning materials and general administration for the Barraba office.

The position is part-time, working 26 hours across four days per week, generally from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Community College Northern Inland is a not-for-profit, approved vocational education and training provider delivering education and training opportunities from seven campuses across the New England North-West region.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Payroll and Finance / Resource Administration Officer is responsible for coordinating the College’s payroll and finance administration and supporting the distribution of training and learning resources across CCNI’s campuses.

The successful applicant will work closely with the CEO, CCNI Accountant, Operations and HR Manager, VET Manager, Compliance and Quality Assurance Manager, Campus Coordinators, campus staff and the CCNI Board of Directors.

Key responsibilities will include:

Managing the College’s fortnightly payroll, including timesheets, approved expense claims, reconciliations and end-of-financial-year STP finalisation
Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Raising invoices, monitoring outstanding accounts and following up debtors
Preparing bank reconciliations, profit and loss statements, cash-flow information and other financial reports
Preparing monthly Instalment Activity Statements and quarterly Business Activity Statements
Maintaining accurate financial, payroll, funding and audit records
Supporting internal and external audit and statutory reporting requirements
Reviewing financial information and assisting the CEO with budgeting, forecasting and financial decision-making
Preparing and presenting financial information for the CEO, Executive team and Board
Coordinating the ordering, printing and distribution of training resources and learner materials across CCNI’s campuses
Liaising with the VET Manager and Campus Coordinators to ensure resources are available before scheduled course delivery
Monitoring stock levels of training resources, stationery and office supplies
Coordinating the printing and distribution of community news publications
Providing general administration support for the Barraba office, including reception, enquiries, mail, filing and supplies
Monitoring approved service agreements and routine operational expenditure within delegated authority

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Proven experience in an accounting, finance or payroll administration role
A relevant accounting or finance qualification, such as a Certificate IV in Accounting, or extensive equivalent experience
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation, Single Touch Payroll reporting and payroll compliance requirements
Experience managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Demonstrated experience using MYOB accounting software
Strong Microsoft Office and financial database skills
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and adapt to changing circumstances
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
The confidence to communicate effectively with staff, management, Board members, suppliers and other stakeholders
The ability to identify issues, propose practical solutions and work independently
Strong attention to detail and the ability to coordinate resources and materials across multiple locations
A current driver’s licence, access to a comprehensively insured vehicle and the ability to travel when required

Experience working within a government-funded or not-for-profit organisation would be highly regarded.

The successful applicant will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check and National Police Check before commencing employment.
