Position: Sales Assistant

Location: Lara, VIC

About Us

Matthews Liquor Group is one of Melbourne's fastest-growing independent liquor retailers and wholesalers. With multiple stores across Victoria, we're looking for motivated people who enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

About the Role

As a Sales Assistant, you will play an important role in delivering outstanding customer service while supporting daily store operations. You'll work closely with the Store Manager and Team Leader to ensure customers receive excellent service and the store is presented to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional customer service.
Assist customers with product recommendations.
Replenish stock and maintain store presentation.
Process sales accurately through the POS system.
Support receiving and merchandising stock.
Maintain stock availability and store cleanliness.
Follow company procedures and safety standards.
Assist with promotional displays and campaigns.
Work collaboratively with the store team.

What We're Looking For

Physical ability to lift and move stock safely.
Previous liquor or retail experience is desirable but not essential.

Store Supervisor / Second-in-ChargePurpose

Support the Store Manager in delivering safe, efficient and profitable store operations. Lead the team, provide excellent customer service, maintain operational standards, and act as Store Manager when required.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Sales

Deliver outstanding customer service.
Process POS transactions accurately.
Promote products and current promotions.
Upsell where appropriate.
Ensure RSA compliance.

Store Operations

Support stock ordering, receiving, merchandising and stock control.
Maintain inventory accuracy and assist with stocktakes.
Monitor stock availability and store presentation.
Manage damaged or expired stock.
Maintain a safe, clean and compliant store.

Cash & Administration

Assist with cash handling, reconciliation and banking.
Complete daily operational and administrative tasks.
Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally.

Team Leadership

Supervise and support team members during shifts.
Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance.
Assist with training and coaching.
Promote a positive team culture and ensure compliance with company policies.

Store Leadership

Open and close the store.
Act as Store Manager when required.
Support company initiatives and work closely with the Store Manager and Head Office to achieve store KPIs.

Qualifications & Experience

Previous retail supervisory experience (liquor retail preferred).
Current RSA Certificate.
Experience with POS systems (Shopfront preferred).
