PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

To provide authoritative professional engineering and leadership of centralised power system planning for the Northern Territory, including delivery
of the Regulated Electricity System and Investment Plan (RESIP) process. The role exercises judgment to assess power system, market and investment
risks and to determine the optimal development pathways that support secure, reliable and least-cost power system outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The “WHAT” to be delivered

Lead the development and ongoing stewardship of the Regulated Electricity System and Investment Plan (RESIP), establishing a coordinated,

whole‑of‑system planning framework for the Northern Territory.

Provide authoritative direction on the optimal development pathway for the power system, aligning infrastructure development with system

security, reliability and least‑cost outcomes.

Exercise professional judgement to assess power system capability, security and reliability risks, including emerging challenges associated with

generation transition and evolving demand profiles.

Provide oversight of scenario development and system analysis, ensuring planning outcomes are robust, defensible and aligned with regulatory

and policy settings.

Establish and maintain fit‑for‑purpose planning frameworks, methodologies and standards, ensuring consistency, transparency and integrity in

planning outputs.

Provide assurance that system planning activities reflect contemporary engineering practice and regulatory requirements, supporting credible

and evidence‑based decision‑making.

Translate complex technical analysis into clear, defensible recommendations, supporting executive decision‑making.

• Lead strategic engagement with industry participants, regulators and government agencies, ensuring alignment on system planning

assumptions and outcomes.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing team, setting clear direction and expectations aligned with organisational objectives.
• Ensure effective governance, accountability and performance management across the planning function.
