Primary objective
Plan, coordinate and manage the ongoing development, delivery and support of enterprise Business Intelligence services
and provide strategic advice to senior management regarding Business Intelligence capabilities across the NTG.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Work collaboratively with senior management and agencies to ensure Business Intelligence services and solutions meet
business requirements and support strategic decision-making.
2. Lead, advise and supervise a team of specialised staff responsible for developing and delivering Business Intelligence
services and solutions, including semantic layers, analytics services and Business Intelligence platforms.
3. Manage the analysis, design and development of Business Intelligence solutions, including defining user requirements
and technical specifications to ensure solutions meet current and future agency needs.
4. Undertake project management to ensure best practice and prioritisation are applied to Business Intelligence and
analytics initiatives and that outcomes are delivered within agreed timeframes.
5. Develop and implement standards, procedures and best practices for Business Intelligence development, semantic
modelling, analytics and data governance.
6. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive knowledge of Business Intelligence concepts, technologies, development methodologies, semantic modelling,
analytics and implementation processes.
2. Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of specialised technical staff, including the effective
management of human, financial and physical resources.
3. Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and competing priorities, develop innovative solutions and achieve
successful outcomes within agreed timeframes and resource constraints.
4. Highly developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to provide strategic advice
and consult, collaborate and negotiate effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
5. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement standards, procedures and governance practices that support effective,
secure and sustainable Business Intelligence services and solutions.
6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest,
innovative and respectful.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Data related field of study.
2. Experience with some or all of the following tools: Information Design Tool, SAP Business Objects, Microsoft Power BI,
Microsoft SQL Server and Visual Studio.
