Senior Psychologist: $65.02 - $70.46 per hour

Counsellor or Social Worker or Welfare Officer Level 4: $66.36 - $67.97 per hour

About Us
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is an exceptional environment to advance your career while enhancing your skills and expertise. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we deliver a comprehensive range of public health services across the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Regions.

The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pregnancy Family Meeting Facilitator to lead a program supporting vulnerable pregnant women and families across the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

The Pregnancy Family Meetings (PFM) program brings together families and key agencies to support early engagement, collaborative planning, and positive outcomes for newborns who may be at risk of entering Out of Home Care at birth. Using a strengths-based and family-centred approach, the program empowers families to identify supports, build on their strengths, and participate in planning for the safety and wellbeing of their child.

As the primary Facilitator, you will coordinate and facilitate Pregnancy Family Meetings across NBMLHD, working closely with families, NSW Health services, and the Department of Communities and Justice. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the program by supporting a network of skilled facilitators and fostering strong interagency partnerships that promote effective collaboration and service delivery.

This role is ideal for an experienced professional with strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, alongside a passion for supporting families and improving outcomes for children.

What you will bring to the role

Social Worker: Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social workers (AASW); OR Counsellor: Minimum AQF level 7 qualification recognised or accredited by the Peak Body (PACFA) with eligibility for membership as a counsellor with PACFA; OR Welfare Officer: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field e.g. community welfare, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer; OR Senior Psychology: Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with no less than 12 months service at the 9th year of service and thereafter rate; OR Clinical Psychologist/Forensic Psychologist: Accredited Masters / Doctoral degree in Clinical or Forensic Psychology and general registration with endorsement or working towards endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Demonstrated skills in facilitating case conferences, case meetings, group supervision or similar meeting/process. Preferably with the involvement of family members and other key stakeholders

Demonstrated high level of understanding of the needs of vulnerable people including people who have experience childhood violence, abuse and/or neglect, or domestic violence. Understanding how this can impact on a person’s capacity to parent

Demonstrated understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of babies and children, and the role of the parent in supporting the development of the child

Thorough knowledge and demonstrated high level skills in child protection practice, and knowledge of Child Protection Legislation, Policies and Procedures

Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including interagency negotiation skills, ability to provide timely and relevant advice, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders

Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites and facilities across the District

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
