Join Blacktown Early Access Team (BEAT), a specialist youth mental health service within Western Sydney Local Health District, supporting Aboriginal young people aged 12–24 experiencing moderate to complex mental illness. Working from Mount Druitt Hospital, you'll be part of a passionate multidisciplinary team committed to delivering culturally responsive, trauma-informed and person-centred care that creates lasting outcomes for young people, families and the community.

What you'll be doing
As an Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician, you'll provide specialist assessment, intervention and care coordination for Aboriginal children and young people experiencing complex mental health needs. You'll work collaboratively with families, carers, community organisations and internal services to improve health outcomes through culturally appropriate, recovery-oriented care.
Provide evidence-based mental health assessments and therapeutic interventions for young people and families.
Coordinate holistic care, referrals and supports, including NDIS and community services.
Advocate for Aboriginal children, young people and families while building strong partnerships across health and community sectors.
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to manage clinical risk, support recovery and deliver high-quality care.
Contribute to service improvement, education, evidence-based practice and the implementation of the BEAT Model of Care.

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing/ Psychology/ Social Work/ Occupational Therapy or relevant degree to be a counsellor
Registration: Full Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse/ Psychologist/ Occupational Therapist or eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (social worker) or eligible for membership with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (counsellor)
Evidence of Diversity: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
Selection Criteria:
Must have demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal young people with mental illness, concept of social and emotional wellbeing including an understanding of Aboriginal intergenerational trauma. This will include an understanding regarding the practical and emotional issues that may arise when working with Aboriginal individuals with mental health concerns and their families.
Must have completed tertiary education/qualification in Social work, Counselling, Psychology, Occupational Therapy and/or equivalent; and relevant experience working with Aboriginal Young People.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles and application of child protection guidelines within NSW Health and Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998, their actual or potential impact and risk on Aboriginal children, families and communities.
