About the role:

We're looking for a Social Media Advisor to join our Social Media Team, within Media and Community Engagement. Our team is responsible for creating content and engaging with the community across our platforms.

You'll report to the Social Media Manager and work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, from frontline to executive communications. Day to day, you'll be contributing to campaigns, crisis communications and content strategy.

The successful candidate will bring sharp eye for social media, an ability to engage meaningfully with diverse audiences, and the organisational skills to juggle competing priorities with ease.

Please note: this position plays a critical role in emergency management and may require on-call shifts outside of standard business hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Your duties will include:

Moderating conversations and engaging with the community, with a keen awareness of organisational risk.
Creating and publishing content across Victoria Police social media channels - both planned and in response to breaking news and community issues.
Designing graphics and producing short-form video for channels.
Supporting livestreams and distributing emergency or time-sensitive information.
Tracking and reporting on content performance to inform ongoing strategy.
Identifying opportunities to leverage trends strategically.
Working with teams across the organisation to deliver information that is clear, accessible and strategically aligned.

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

An understanding of, and experience using, social media in a corporate, government or customer service setting.
Strong writing skills and the ability to adapt your tone and style across different platforms and audiences.
An eye for content performance - you know what's working and why.
Basic graphic design and/or video editing skills (experience shooting and editing upright video for Reels, TikTok or YouTube Shorts highly regarded).
The ability to remain calm, think clearly and make good decisions under pressure.
A relevant qualification in marketing, communications or a related field is desirable.

Further Information:

One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
