Primary objective
The Professional Conduct Officer is responsible for providing high level administrative support with respect to disciplinary matters within
the office of the Teacher Registration Board of Northern Territory (the Board). This position may also provide more general administrative
support to other areas of the Office of the Board as required.

Context statement
The office of the Board supports the Teacher Registration Board, which is a statutory authority reporting to the Minister for Education. The
Board is charged with maintaining teacher registration and teacher standards in the Northern Territory. This includes the management of
professional conduct matters, accreditation of initial teacher education courses and the certification of highly accomplished and lead
teachers.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide administrative support in the management of notifications and complaints lodged with the Board for the assessment,

investigation and determination of disciplinary matters.
2. Assist in the development, maintenance and evaluation of systems to ensure effective case management, statistical and other reporting

requirements.
3. Provide administrative support for the management of disciplinary cases which may include research, gathering information, preparing

case materials, drafting correspondence and liaising with legal counsel and other relevant stakeholders.
4. Contribute to the drafting of reports, correspondence, statutory notices, and briefing notes and respond to enquiries on conduct and

discipline matters.
5. Liaise with employing authorities, law enforcement bodies, child safety authorities and other relevant stakeholders regarding the

professional conduct of teachers.
6. Work as part of a team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services including reception duties, phone enquiries, record

management and other administration of the Office.
7. Ensure the management, containment and security of sensitive and confidential information retained by the office in relation to

professional conduct matters.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated organisational skills in a complex and high-volume environment, including the ability to work with minimal supervision,

meet deadlines, and balance competing priorities while maintaining quality work and attention to detail.
2. Proven integrity and initiative with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, an ability to exercise sound judgement and to manage

confidential and sensitive information.
3. Ability to apply legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines in a regulatory environment.
4. Strong written communication skills including experience in administering reports and recommendations and preparing

correspondence for various stakeholders.
5. Strong word processing skills and the ability to confidently use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and Adobe programs.
6. Experience with using and maintaining electronic client information, case management and/or record management information

systems.
7. Ability to interact effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, education professionals, stakeholders, and the public.
8. Ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance.

Desirable
1. Experience in a field related to quality assurance, compliance, risk, policing, case management, etc
2. Tertiary and/or post-graduate qualifications in relevant discipline.
3. Availability for some overnight travel, including to remote parts of the NT.
