Full Job Description

The Last Slice (TLS) is a modern twist on the classic Lebanese-style pizza known as Manoush, serving quality food with exceptional customer service in the heart of Sydney Olympic Park. Our menu combines traditional flavours with contemporary hospitality, creating a unique dining experience for our customers. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated and talented Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in food quality, and is ready to contribute to a positive and professional team culture.

About the Role:

As our Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting daily kitchen operations, maintaining food quality standards, and assisting with the leadership and development of the kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of kitchen operations.
Prepare and cook high-quality menu items consistently and efficiently.
Support service periods while maintaining speed, accuracy, and presentation standards.
Assist with menu preparation, food production, and kitchen organisation.
Monitor stock levels, ordering requirements, and inventory control.
Ensure food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
Train, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff.
Help maintain kitchen cleanliness and equipment standards.
Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure excellent customer experiences.
Contribute ideas to improve kitchen efficiency, food quality, and team performance.

Skills & Experience Required:

Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef, or similar leadership role.
Strong experience working with burgers, brunch menus, and high-volume kitchen operations.
Excellent food preparation and cooking skills.
Experience with stock management, ordering, and cost control.
Sound knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles.
Proven ability to maintain food quality, consistency, and kitchen standards during busy service periods.
Ability to lead by example and support a positive team environment.
