Zanobia | Barangaroo, Sydney

Zanobia is a premium Lebanese dining destination in Barangaroo, Sydney, offering refined Lebanese cuisine, warm hospitality, and a high-end dining experience. We are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team.

About the Role

As a Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen team in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes while maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene, and kitchen standards. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary skills in a professional and fast-paced restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and basic cooking across different sections of the kitchen.
Prepare ingredients according to recipes, specifications, and portion requirements.
Assist chefs with mise en place and daily kitchen preparation.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, equipment, and kitchen areas.
Follow food safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures.
Ensure food is stored, labelled, and rotated correctly.
Maintain consistent quality, presentation, and portion control.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries when required.
Work efficiently during busy service periods.
Follow instructions from the Head Chef and senior kitchen team.
Minimise food waste and use ingredients responsibly.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude as part of the kitchen team.

About You

Previous experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred but not essential.
A genuine passion for food and hospitality.
Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable, punctual, and well presented.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Relevant culinary qualifications or Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is an advantage.
