About the role

Soultys at Manly beach are looking for a talented Chef/Cook to join our team. This is a part-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic hospitality environment. As a Chef/Cook, you will take charge of a specific section of our kitchen, demonstrating responsibility, technical expertise and a passion for creating exceptional cuisine. This role is integral to maintaining the high standards of food quality and presentation that define our establishment.

The Role & Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the daily operations of your assigned station, ensuring consistency and quality in all dishes prepared
Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes, plating standards and presentation guidelines
Maintain strict food hygiene and safety standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
Train, supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff working within your section
Monitor stock levels and manage inventory for your station, reporting any shortages or quality issues promptly
Collaborate with others to maintain workflow and meet service demands
Contribute to menu development and suggest innovative dishes that align with our culinary vision
Ensure all equipment at your station is maintained in excellent working condition and report any maintenance issues
Support mise en place preparation and maintain an organised, clean and efficient working environment

What we're looking for

Proven 2-3 years of experience working as a Chef/Cook or equivalent position in a professional hospitality setting
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and kitchen operations
Demonstrated ability to motivate junior kitchen staff with clear communication and positive feedback
Excellent organisational and time management skills, particularly during busy service periods
Sound understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene standards
Proficiency with kitchen equipment and cooking technology
Flexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings, weekends or public holidays as required
Relevant culinary qualification or certification (e.g. Diploma of Hospitality, formal chef training) is highly desirable
A creative mindset with the ability to take initiative and contribute ideas for menu innovation
Strong teamwork and communication skills with a positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues and working under pressure at busy times
