The Dining & Co Mascot is currently seeking a skilled, reliable, and passionate Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. This is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week, based in Mascot, NSW.

The Dining & Co Mascot is a modern Australian cafe and dining venue dedicated to bringing fine-dining expertise into a relaxed and welcoming cafe environment.
As part of The Dining & Co’s growing network of Sydney venues, we serve freshly prepared contemporary Australian café dishes made with quality ingredients and careful attention to flavour and presentation. We also provide catering and function services for private celebrations, corporate events and other special occasions.
About the Role
As a Cook, you will play a key hands-on role in preparing and delivering high-quality meals while maintaining consistency, efficiency, and kitchen standards.
As a Cook, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, lunch and café-style meals, as well as food for catering and function requirements, in accordance with established recipes and menu specifications;
- Examine ingredients and food supplies to ensure freshness, quality and suitability before preparation;
- Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, measuring and portioning food items prior to service;
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment and regulate cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is prepared properly and safely;
- Portion and present meals with the appropriate sauces, garnishes and accompaniments, ensuring consistency in quality, taste and presentation;
- Prepare vegetarian, vegan and other dietary-specific dishes, including meals accommodating allergies and intolerances;
- Coordinate food preparation during busy service periods to ensure orders are completed accurately and promptly;
- Properly store, label and rotate food supplies in temperature-controlled facilities in accordance with food safety requirements;
- Assist with stock control and minimizing food wastage through efficient preparation, storage & portion-controlled practices; and
- Follow food safety, hygiene and Work Health & Safety (WHS)procedures at all times.
Skills & Experience – Who we’re looking for:
For this position, it is expected that you will possess the following qualifications/work experience:
- Minimum AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a related field, OR at least 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications;
- At least 1 year of experience as a Cook in a busy cafe, restaurant or commercial kitchen;
- Practical experience in preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of meals in accordance with established recipes and quality standards;
- Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and kitchen operations;
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced, event-driven environments;
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment including grills, fryers, ovens, mixers and food processors;
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and Work Health & Safety requirements;
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple food orders during busy service periods;
- A positive attitude, reliability and genuine passion for food preparation and hospitality.
Pay: $79,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
