Primary objective
Provide classroom-based support to the teaching staff and contribute to the implementation of the preschool program and
Early Years activities within the school, including general administration of preschool resources and facilities, supporting the
documentation and evaluation of children’s learning and liaising daily with families and community.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Prepare classroom resources under the direction of teaching staff.
2. Support teaching staff in the supervision, monitoring and instruction of students in classrooms and in extracurricular
activities including sports, excursions, and special events.
3. Organise, evaluate and document children’s learning and wellbeing in collaboration with a team of educators and liaise
with families regarding progress.
4. Provide first aid, attend to sick children and assist with children’s personal hygiene.
5. Relate and be sensitive to the needs of preschool-aged children to support their social, emotional, cognitive and physical
development.
6. Provide basic office and finance administration and maintenance of a safe and clean learning environment for students.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in working with young children in a supportive school/early childhood education and care environment,
including working as part of a team to implement the principles and practices of the National Quality Framework and the
Early Years Learning Framework.
2. Ability to work with initiative, observe confidentiality and interact effectively with children, families, community
representatives and other teaching staff from diverse cultures.
3. Monitoring and recording of children’s learning progress
4. Ability to perform office and finance administration tasks.
5. Must hold an approved certificate III level education and care qualification or higher, as listed on the Australian Children’s
Education and Care Quality Authority website: www.acecqa.gov.au
Further information
Holds or has the ability to obtain a current Senior First Aid Certificate and a Working with Children Clearance notice (Ochre
Card) from SAFE NT.
