About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic team at the One Heart Centre in North Sydney. As a full or part-time Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing patient enquiries, and supporting the smooth running of our medical practice.

What you'll be doing

Warmly greeting and assisting patients in person, by phone and by email, providing an exceptional first impression of the practice and managing the reception area.
Answering incoming phone calls, responding to patient queries, and providing information about the clinic and its services.
Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring the confidentiality of patient information using the practice management software (Shexie).
Processing patient invoicing, receipting and payments, including Medicare and private health fund billing.
Scanning, filing and managing incoming referrals, clinical correspondence and outgoing letters.
Liaising professionally with Medicare, hospital staff, referring doctors and other medical stakeholders.
Assisting with the set-up and return of ambulatory monitoring devices (e.g. Holter monitors, blood pressure monitors) — full training and incentives provided.
Upholding the highest standards of patient privacy, confidentiality and professional conduct at all times

What we're looking for

Essential:

Previous experience in a medical reception or customer service role, preferably within the healthcare industry
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and colleagues in a warm and professional manner
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively
A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records
A friendly, empathetic, and patient-centric approach to customer service
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team
Reliable, trustworthy and punctual with a strong work ethic

Desirable:

Previous experience in a cardiology or specialist medical practice
Familiarity with Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) billing process
Additional language skills to serve a diverse patient population
Proficiency in using medical software, ideally Shexie (training will be provided) and other office technologies
