Your Impact
As a Full-Time Property Care Senior Team Leader; you will play a key role in undertaking and leading the delivery of landscape construction, horticultural maintenance, irrigation installation, and grounds development projects across commercial and community sites. The role is predominantly hands-on and requires extensive practical involvement in landscape gardening activities, including site preparation, planting, turf establishment, irrigation works, hardscape construction, and horticultural maintenance.
What you'll do:
Landscape Construction and Garden Development
- Prepare and interpret landscape plans, drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Assess sites and determine landscaping requirements, plant selection, soil treatments, and construction methods.
- Prepare planting areas, garden beds, seedbeds, and growing sites through cultivation, soil conditioning, grading, and fertilisation.
- Select, plant, establish, and maintain trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, ground covers, and ornamental plants.
- Prepare lawn areas through topsoil preparation, seeding, and installation of instant turf.
- Construct landscape features including pathways, paving, retaining walls, fencing, garden edging, pergolas, trellises, seating areas, and other hardscape elements.
- Install and maintain drainage systems to support landscape health and functionality.
- Determine irrigation requirements and hydraulic parameters for landscape and garden areas.
- Install, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems including pumps, valves, controllers, sprinklers, drip systems, and water management infrastructure.
- Operate landscaping machinery and equipment including ride-on mowers, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, compact loaders, post-hole diggers, blowers, and trailers.
- Perform pruning, mulching, fertilising, weed management, pest control, and plant health treatments.
- Monitor and assess plant health, soil condition, irrigation performance, and landscape presentation, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Carry out landscape renovations, garden refurbishments, and improvement projects.
- Estimate material requirements and coordinate procurement of plants, soils, turf, mulch, irrigation components, and landscaping materials.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure landscaping works meet design specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.
- Complete landscaping works in accordance with environmental regulations, horticultural best practices, and workplace safety requirements.
Team Guidance and Operational Coordination
- Provide practical instruction and day-to-day guidance to Award and Supported Employees undertaking landscaping activities.
- Coordinate daily work tasks and allocate resources to ensure landscaping projects are completed efficiently.
- Monitor work quality and provide on-the-job coaching in landscaping techniques and safe work practices.
- Ensure team compliance with workplace health and safety procedures and safe operation of landscaping equipment.
- Assist with workforce planning and scheduling to support delivery of landscaping projects.
- Liaise with customers regarding landscaping works, project progress, and site requirements.
- Support the Operations Manager with site assessments, landscaping project planning, and scope development for new landscaping works.
- Undertake other landscape gardening duties as directed by the Operations Manager.
Please note the shift is from Mondays to Fridays, from 6.00am - 2.00pm.
What you'll bring:
- Three (03) plus year’s experience in commercial gardening, grounds maintenance, or similar operational environment.
- Demonstrated experience supervising teams in a commercial or service-based operation.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and safe work practices.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with experience in client-facing roles.
- Current Western Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Experience operating ride-on equipment and safely towing trailers.
- Ability to maintain compliance with organisational policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Commitment to training, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Current Working with Children Check (or proof of application).
- Cert III in Landscape Construction or similar.
- Horticulture Certificate.
- Weed Spraying Certificate.
- Irrigation Certificate.
