About the role

The Finance, Rates and Investment Branch provides financial leadership and stewardship for Council, supporting the organisation to maintain financial sustainability and make sound, informed decisions.

Within the branch, the Corporate Finance team provides strategic financial guidance across the organisation. The team supports medium and long-term financial and strategic planning, assesses business cases and investment proposals, supports the commercialisation of strategic organisational initiatives, and delivers a range of corporate and commercial finance activities.

As a Senior Corporate Finance Analyst, you’ll play a key role in delivering sophisticated three-way financial modelling and other advanced financial analysis to support significant strategic decisions. This includes contributing to Council’s 10 Year Financial Plan, major projects and investment opportunities, strategic and commercial finance initiatives, and broader organisational decision-making.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation, translating complex financial information into clear insights, recommendations and financial metrics that support informed decision-making.

A little more about the role

Develop and maintain sophisticated three-way financial models and other financial models supporting Council’s long-term financial planning, business cases and investment proposals.
Undertake corporate finance and strategic investment analysis across major capital projects, acquisitions, divestments and other investment opportunities.
Support commercial partnerships, revenue initiatives and value-creation opportunities, including Public Private Partnerships and Joint Ventures.
Conduct investment research, benchmarking and valuations and provide high-quality financial advice and recommendations.
Prepare clear and compelling papers, financial analysis and presentations to influence strategic decision-making.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and act as a trusted financial adviser across the organisation

What your experience might look like

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Accounting, Commerce, Economics or Finance.
Experience in areas such as Corporate Finance, Investment Management, Equity Research, Investment Banking, Investment Valuations, Financial Modelling, Transaction Advisory or Strategic Finance.
Demonstrated financial modelling expertise, including the development and maintenance of three-way financial models, project finance models and discounted cash flow models.
Proven ability to undertake investment research, benchmarking and valuations.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
