The Opportunity

Fernbank Retirement Living is a well established Upper North Shore community known for its peaceful garden setting, welcoming residents and supportive culture. With quality amenities and a strong sense of belonging, Fernbank is a rewarding place to build a meaningful career in retirement living. As our Chef Manager, you will be working closely with your small team of hospitality staff, leading the kitchen to success by providing exquisite hospitality services that exceed the satisfaction of all residents. Our Chef Managers are extremely hands-on, preparing daily meals and building relationships with residents.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity working Monday (9:30am-6:00pm); Tuesday (9:30am-6:00pm); Wednesday (9:30am-6:00pm); Thursday (10:30am-7:00pm) and Friday (9:30am-6:00pm)

$95K - $105K pa. including superannuation

You will:

Be responsible for all kitchen and dining operations - preparing meals for lunch & dinner services and creating fresh ideas in the kitchen
Work closely with the team to deliver great service, ensure the restaurant is running smoothly and coordinating ideas for events and functions
Monitor daily Food Safety and compliance checklists and ensure strict adherence to all OH&S policies
Complete stock management of all goods including ordering, rotation and amendments
Following up on day-to-day operational issues including adhering to schedules, cleaning lists and performance issues

What you'll bring:

Experience as a Chef in any kitchen setting (e.g retirement villages, aged care, cafes, a la carte settings, RSLs or pubs)
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (required)
Qualified Food Safety Supervisor (desirable)
Kitchen management experience (ordering stock, rostering and admin experience)
Current Police Check clearance and minimum two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
