Position Title

Restaurant Manager

Reports To

Owner / General Manager

Position Summary

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high food and beverage standards, managing staff performance, and driving sales and profitability. The role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a hands-on approach to creating a positive dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

Oversee the day-to-day running of the restaurant.
Ensure all opening, service, and closing procedures are followed.
Maintain cleanliness, presentation, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Monitor food quality, consistency, and service standards.
Resolve customer complaints professionally and efficiently.

Team Leadership

Recruit, train, and onboard new staff members.
Create and manage staff rosters.
Lead, motivate, and develop the team to achieve performance goals.
Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews.
Foster a positive workplace culture and maintain team morale.

Customer Service

Ensure guests receive outstanding service at all times.
Build strong relationships with regular customers.
Handle customer feedback and implement improvements where necessary.
Maintain a welcoming and professional atmosphere.

Financial Management

Monitor labour costs, food costs, and operating expenses.
Manage cash handling procedures and daily reconciliations.
Assist with budgeting and financial reporting.
Drive sales through promotions, events, and upselling initiatives.
Monitor stock levels and minimise wastage.

Inventory & Supplier Management

Order food, beverages, and restaurant supplies.
Maintain accurate inventory records.
Liaise with suppliers to ensure quality and timely deliveries.
Conduct regular stocktakes and investigate variances.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with NSW food safety standards and workplace health and safety regulations.
Maintain current licences and permits.
Ensure all staff follow food handling and hygiene procedures.
Monitor security procedures and incident reporting.

Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience in restaurant management or hospitality leadership.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
Knowledge of restaurant POS systems and reporting.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Current NSW RSA certification (preferred).
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (preferred).

Customer satisfaction ratings.
Labour cost targets.
Food cost and wastage control.
Revenue and sales growth.
Staff retention and performance.
Compliance with health and safety standards.
