eLumina Global is an Australian clean energy technology business specialising in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, battery-integrated EV charging, fleet charging, depot electrification and energy solutions for commercial, industrial, regional, rural and remote applications.
We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Technology Officer / Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and technical operations of our EV charging and battery energy storage business. This is a senior engineering management role responsible for technical strategy, product engineering, engineering team leadership, project delivery, compliance, quality, safety and continuous improvement across eLumina’s BESS and EV charging solutions.
Position Summary
The Chief Technology Officer / Engineering Manager will plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate the engineering and technical operations of the business. The role will provide strategic technical leadership for the design, development, testing, deployment, commissioning and lifecycle management of EV charging systems, battery-integrated EV charging products, BESS solutions and associated electrical infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, product, manufacturing, commercial, project delivery, service and external stakeholder teams to ensure eLumina’s engineering solutions are safe, reliable, commercially viable, scalable and suitable for Australian operating conditions.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
· Leading the engineering and technical strategy for eLumina’s EV charging, BESS, battery-integrated charging, fleet charging and off-grid/power-constrained energy solutions.
· Planning, organising, directing and coordinating engineering operations across product development, system design, project delivery, testing, commissioning and ongoing technical support.
· Managing engineering teams, technical specialists, contractors and external consultants to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
· Establishing engineering policies, design standards, technical procedures, quality controls and compliance frameworks for EV charging and battery storage projects.
· Overseeing technical feasibility assessments, site assessments, system architecture, electrical design review, equipment selection and integration of EV charging and energy storage systems.
· Providing senior technical guidance on BESS, DC fast charging, battery-integrated EV charging, power distribution, energy management systems, grid connection and electrical safety.
· Reviewing drawings, specifications, design documentation, technical submissions, testing procedures and commissioning records.
· Ensuring engineering designs and project delivery comply with applicable Australian standards, regulations, safety requirements, environmental requirements and customer specifications.
· Establishing and monitoring engineering project schedules, resource plans, budgets and technical risk controls.
· Liaising with senior management, product teams, manufacturing teams, commercial teams, suppliers, contractors, clients, network service providers and regulatory stakeholders on engineering matters.
· Supporting research, development and continuous improvement of battery-integrated EV charging products, BESS products and related energy management solutions.
· Overseeing maintenance, performance monitoring, fault analysis and technical improvement initiatives to optimise system reliability and efficiency.
· Providing technical leadership for large-scale commercial, industrial, fleet, regional and remote deployment projects.
· Supporting business growth by assessing new technologies, validating technical solutions and contributing to commercial proposals where senior engineering input is required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have:
· A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
· At least five years of relevant senior engineering, engineering management or technical leadership experience.
· Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or multidisciplinary technical teams.
· Strong technical experience in one or more of the following areas: EV charging infrastructure, Battery Energy Storage Systems, power systems, renewable energy systems, electrical infrastructure, power electronics, energy management systems, data centre/facilities power systems, or grid-connected electrical projects.
· Experience managing engineering projects through the full project lifecycle, including feasibility assessment, design, procurement, construction/installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
· Demonstrated ability to establish engineering strategies, technical standards, project schedules, budgets and quality controls.
· Strong knowledge of electrical safety, engineering compliance, technical risk management and quality assurance.
· Experience liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers, consultants, network/service providers and internal business stakeholders.
· Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Experience
The following will be highly regarded:
· Experience with high-power DC EV charging systems, battery-integrated EV charging or commercial/industrial BESS.
· Experience with fleet charging, depot electrification, renewable energy integration, microgrid or off-grid power solutions.
· Experience in manufacturing, product development, technical evaluation or commercialisation of clean energy technology.
· Professional engineering registration, chartered engineering status, project management certification or equivalent professional credentials.
· Experience working with Australian standards, grid connection requirements and electrical infrastructure projects in Australia.
Pay: $150,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year
