Are you an experienced learning support educator or classroom teacher who understands adolescents and wants to make a meaningful difference across a whole school?
In this role, you will lead inclusive education at Parkerville Steiner College, working alongside teachers to strengthen whole-class practice, managing Education Assistants, and coordinating targeted intervention programs for students who require additional support.
With approximately 120 students across Years 7 to 11, our small high school offers something increasingly rare: the opportunity to know students well, work closely with colleagues and families, and see the direct impact of your work.
Our students are thoughtful, engaged and respectful young people. They bring curiosity and personality to the classroom, respond positively to clear expectations, and are often described as a delight to teach.
An experienced classroom teacher seeking to transition into learning support may be particularly well suited to this position. You do not need to have previously held a formal learning support title.

About Parkerville Steiner College
Parkerville Steiner College provides a Steiner high school education in the Perth Hills.
Our curriculum brings together academic learning with creative, practical and experiential education, supporting young people through the important developmental years of adolescence.
Our staff are committed to inclusive practice, compassionate care, and the safety and wellbeing of every student.
You do not need to be Steiner-trained. You will, however, need a genuine interest in Steiner education and in working with adolescents in a holistic and developmentally responsive way.
What You Will Bring to the Role
Ideally, you will have experience in learning support, inclusive education or supporting students with diverse learning needs.
You will understand how to work alongside classroom teachers, helping them develop whole-class strategies, practical adjustments, scaffolding and differentiated approaches that support a broad range of learners.
You may also bring experience implementing or managing literacy, numeracy or other targeted intervention programs.
You may already be working in an inclusive education role, or you may be an experienced classroom teacher ready to move into learning support leadership.
You may be well suited to the position if you have:
- a strong understanding of effective whole-class teaching strategies
- experience differentiating learning and making curriculum adjustments
- worked collaboratively with Teachers and Education Assistants
- supported students individually or in small intervention groups
- Experience or an interest in developing your knowledge of learning support programs, disability funding and inclusive education processes.
You do not need to meet every desirable criterion to apply. Professional learning and support will be available in areas where you may have less experience.
What You Will Do
You will lead learning support and inclusive education across the high school.
Working closely with teachers, Education Assistants, students and families, you will:
- support teachers to develop effective whole-class strategies for diverse learners
- provide practical advice about scaffolding, differentiation, classroom adjustments and accessible curriculum delivery
- help teachers identify emerging learning needs and respond proactively
- ensure Education Assistants have clear priorities, strategies and professional guidance
- develop, implement and manage targeted literacy, numeracy and other learning intervention programs
- monitor student progress and adjust intervention programs in response to evidence and individual need
- work directly with students, individually or in small groups, where appropriate
- develop and review Curriculum Adjustment Plans and Individual Education Plans
- ensure agreed learning adjustments are clearly communicated and implemented consistently
- coordinate disability funding applications and associated documentation
- meet with parents and carers to discuss student needs, plans, progress and strategies
- build relationships with feeder primary schools to support successful transitions into high school
- develop transition plans for incoming students and support them as they settle into the School
- maintain accurate and appropriate inclusive education records
- support senior students requiring adjustments to participate meaningfully in the Class 12 Independent Research Project
- contribute to staff meetings, professional learning and the continued development of inclusive practice across the College.

You will help ensure that students who learn differently are supported within the life of the classroom, rather than only at its margins.
By strengthening teachers’ whole-class practice, coordinating purposeful intervention, and leading Education Assistants effectively, you will help more students access learning, develop confidence and remain connected to their class.
In a small high school, you will have the opportunity to notice students early, understand their needs in context and contribute directly to their progress.
Essential Requirements
You will need:
- a recognised teaching qualification
- current Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia registration
- a current Working with Children Check
- experience teaching or supporting high school students
- a strong understanding of adolescent learners
- experience supporting students with learning differences, disabilities or additional learning needs
- the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, Education Assistants, students and families
- strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
- the right to work in Australia.

- learning support or inclusive education
- managing targeted intervention programs
- monitoring and evaluating student progress
- leading or managing Education Assistants
- supporting teachers with whole-class inclusive strategies
- developing Curriculum Adjustment Plans or Individual Education Plans
- disability funding applications, documentation and reporting
- supporting students through the transition from primary to high school.
