SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef on behalf of our client, a well-established restaurant renowned for its authentic Indian cuisine, warm hospitality and commitment to quality. Offering an extensive menu of traditional North Indian favourites, tandoori specialties, rich curries, freshly baked naan breads, biryanis, vegetarian dishes and contemporary Indian flavours, the restaurant has built a strong reputation amongst Adelaide diners for delivering an exceptional dining experience.

Salary - $78,000 - $84,000 plus superannuation per annum

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a talented Chef to join the dynamic kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about authentic Indian cuisine who can consistently produce high-quality dishes while maintaining excellent food safety, presentation and kitchen standards in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Prepare, cook and present a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes for dine-in, takeaway and catering services.

Plan, develop and update menus in consultation with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients, customer preferences and regional Indian flavours.

Estimate food and labour costs while assisting with budgeting, portion control and stock management.

Order, receive and monitor food supplies, ensuring ingredients meet quality standards and minimising wastage.

Supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain efficient kitchen operations and high culinary standards.

Monitor food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation to ensure consistency, authenticity and quality across all menu items.

Coordinate food preparation and service to ensure meals are delivered efficiently during busy service periods.

Ensure compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, hygiene and workplace health and safety reqirements.

Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen while ensuring all equipment is used and maintained correctly.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, strong leadership abilities and a genuine passion for preparing authentic Indian cuisine.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Relevant qualification, such as a Diploma of Hospitality Management - Commercial Cookery (or agreed equivalent).

Minimum of 1 year (preferably more) experience as a Chef in a busy restaurant (preferably in Indian cuisine).

Strong knowledge of traditional Indian cooking methods, spices, tandoor cooking and regional cuisines.

Experience supervising and mentoring kitchen staff.

Sound understanding of food costing, inventory control and kitchen operations.

Comprehensive knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP and WHS requirements.

Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining consistently high food quality.

A positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.

Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
