THE ROLE:
We are seeking a talented Chef to join the dynamic kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about authentic Indian cuisine who can consistently produce high-quality dishes while maintaining excellent food safety, presentation and kitchen standards in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Prepare, cook and present a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes for dine-in, takeaway and catering services.
- Plan, develop and update menus in consultation with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients, customer preferences and regional Indian flavours.
- Estimate food and labour costs while assisting with budgeting, portion control and stock management.
- Order, receive and monitor food supplies, ensuring ingredients meet quality standards and minimising wastage.
- Supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain efficient kitchen operations and high culinary standards.
- Monitor food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation to ensure consistency, authenticity and quality across all menu items.
- Coordinate food preparation and service to ensure meals are delivered efficiently during busy service periods.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, hygiene and workplace health and safety reqirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen while ensuring all equipment is used and maintained correctly.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, strong leadership abilities and a genuine passion for preparing authentic Indian cuisine.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Relevant qualification, such as a Diploma of Hospitality Management - Commercial Cookery (or agreed equivalent).
- Minimum of 1 year (preferably more) experience as a Chef in a busy restaurant (preferably in Indian cuisine).
- Strong knowledge of traditional Indian cooking methods, spices, tandoor cooking and regional cuisines.
- Experience supervising and mentoring kitchen staff.
- Sound understanding of food costing, inventory control and kitchen operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP and WHS requirements.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining consistently high food quality.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
- You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
