We are looking for an experienced Accounts, Payroll & Admin Support Officer to join our team. This diverse and rewarding role offers the opportunity to support our Finance team while working across accounts administration, payroll support, bookkeeping, purchasing and general business administration.

Working closely with our Cairns-based Finance team and supporting our busy Townsville workshop, you'll play an important role in ensuring financial and administrative processes are completed accurately, efficiently and on time.

Job Description

As our Accounts, Payroll & Admin Support Officer, you'll provide essential support across a range of finance and administration functions while building strong working relationships across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Administration

Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
Process supplier invoices and customer payments
Assist with debtor management and outstanding accounts
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation

Payroll Administration

Assist with payroll administration, including payroll data entry and processing support
Collect and verify payroll information
Support payroll compliance and record keeping
Provide payroll backup assistance as required

Bookkeeping & Finance Support

Assist with bank reconciliations
Prepare journals and support general ledger activities
Provide bookkeeping support to the Finance team
Assist with month-end finance administration where required

Purchasing & Project Support

Raise and process purchase orders
Maintain supplier information and purchasing documentation
Assist with job costing and project-related financial administration
Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders

Administration

Provide general administrative support to the Finance team
Support administrative functions for the Townsville workshop
Collaborate closely with our Cairns-based Finance team
Maintain accurate business records and documentation
Assist with additional administration tasks as required

This role offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to become an integral part of our business operations.

Desired Skills and Experience

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys working across both finance and administration.

To be successful you will have:

3-8 years' experience in accounts, administration, payroll support or a similar role
Experience supporting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
Exposure to bookkeeping or finance administration
Experience assisting with payroll processing
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
Excellent organisational and time management skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently
The ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the business

Desirable but not essential

Experience with accounting software
Experience using payroll software
Previous experience in construction, mining or a project-based environment
Exposure to job costing or project administration
