What You Will Be Doing
There is an opportunity in the Social Work, Music Therapy, & Art Therapy team at Peter Mac to welcome a Grade 2 Art Therapist on a fixed term (12 weeks) basis. As a Grade 2 Art Therapist, you will be supported to develop your career in public health and work primarily in the ambulatory setting providing Art Therapy in a group format. You will receive regular supervision and additionally be supported to participate in seminars specifically designed to enhance your professional development as you learn and grow in your knowledge of the specific clinical skills needed in oncology-focused Art Threapy. Grade 2 Art Therapists work collaboratively as part of interdisciplinary teams to provide excellent, world-class cancer care through oncology- specific Art Therapy clinical interventions and group work.
Grade 2 Art Therapists are supported by dedicated Grade 3 Senior clinicians.
What You Will Need
Required
Completion of Master of Art Therapy or equivalent from an accredited University
Current Professional membership as an Art Therapist with Australian, New Zealand & Asian Creative Arts Therapy Association (ANZACATA).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Experience facilitating Art Therapy groups.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in the delivery of individual and group art therapy programs, including family-centred practice.
Well-developed reporting and report writing skills
Knowledge of art therapy theory and its application to therapeutic practices
Ability to supervise Art Therapy students
Working with Children's Check
Police Check

Key Accountabilities
1.Provision of high quality art therapy
to patients, their families and groups.
- Provides art therapy assessments involving emotional, physical, psychosocial and spiritual status
- Provides supportive and insight oriented art therapy based experiences in accordance with supporting people who are experiencing cancer
- Prepares and uses developmentally appropriate, quality techniques and resources for clinical care
- Provides clinical support to the broader creative therapy program as required · Provides culturally appropriate services for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Clients (CALD)
2.Provide high quality art therapy
education and program development.
Participation in the evaluation of art therapy services
Responsibility for professional self-development through personal performance review and involvement in learning opportunities
3.Effective and efficient management
of clinical and non-clinical workload to
meet organisational and funder
requirements.
- Manages and prioritises clinical workload in a manner which allows high quality service provision
- Develop and maintain an operational work-plan in conjunction with the Head of Social Work, Art & Music Therapy
- Provides quarterly reports demonstrating activity and themes across all aspects of the program (clinical, educational, research elements)
- Documentation in line with organisational requirements
- Attends relevant team and other meetings, and interacts in an appropriate manner.
- Records statistics of clinical services accordance with the organisational requirements.
- Provides annual reports regarding art therapy services to funding bodies as per direction of Head of Social Work & Art & Music Therapy
- Participates in Public Relations opportunities and speaking engagements as a representative of Funders, and Peter Mac.
4. Ability to work as an interdisciplinary
team member. · Establishes and maintains collaborative practices with multidisciplinary team members
- Liaison with and education to multidisciplinary team members and service providers with regards to art therapy service provision
- Consults with and makes appropriate referrals to other team members
