What you will do

As financial assistance scheme (FAS) intake and triage officer, you will help victims of crime access financial assistance through a fair, simple and supportive process.

You will review applications, speak with victims and their support people and help prepare applications for assessment.

You will:

review applications and identify required documents for assessment
analyse applications and decide their priority and complexity under policies and procedures
make timely interim decisions using available evidence to meet immediate needs
communicate with victims in a trauma-informed, culturally safe and respectful way
manage invoice payments and complete accurate records while supporting Aboriginal cultural safety and victim-centred practice.

About you

A qualification or experience in community services, social work, criminology, psychology, victim services or family violence is desirable. Experience supporting people affected by trauma is highly valued.

You should also have:

experience providing trauma-informed support to people affected by crime
knowledge of family violence, sexual assault and culturally safe practice
confidence using Salesforce or a similar case management system
strong judgement, communication skills and the ability to solve problems while treating people with respect.
