South Yarra BMW, part of the award-winning, family-owned Jowett Motor Group, is looking for an experienced Automotive Technician/Mechanic to join our premium automotive team.

If you have strong technical skills, a passion for automotive excellence, and experience servicing and repairing vehicles to a high standard, we want to hear from you. You’ll be responsible for carrying out servicing, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance across BMW vehicles, ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to manufacturer standards.

About the role

As an Automotive Technician/Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality servicing, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance while maintaining the premium standards expected of South Yarra BMW and Jowett Motor Group. Working as part of our experienced workshop team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring vehicles are serviced and repaired to the highest standard and returned to customers in exceptional condition.

We offer 4-day rosters, with 38 hours worked across four days, providing an excellent work-life balance. Day and evening shifts are available, giving you flexibility to choose a roster that best suits your lifestyle.

Key responsibilities

Carry out vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and mechanical repairs across BMW vehicles
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and manufacturer guidelines
Complete scheduled servicing and inspections to a high standard
Identify and communicate any additional repairs or maintenance requirements
Ensure all work is completed efficiently and in line with BMW manufacturer standards and workshop expectations
Maintain accurate job documentation and communicate effectively with the workshop and service teams
Work efficiently to meet repair timelines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and quality workmanship
Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work area
Collaborate with technicians, service advisors and other workshop team members to support a seamless customer experience

About you

You’ll bring:

Proven experience as an Automotive Technician, Mechanic, or in a similar automotive trade role
Relevant automotive qualifications and/or trade certification
Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, with a commitment to quality workmanship
Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing vehicles to a high standard
Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues effectively
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
Strong problem-solving skills and a professional approach
A passion for the automotive industry and delivering premium results
A current driver’s licence and the ability to work within a fast-paced workshop environment
