The TAFE NSW Centres of Excellence bring together the Construction Centre of Excellence, the Manufacturing Centres of Excellence, and the Institute of Applied Technology Digital, a National Centre of Excellence, to support industry-led innovation, workforce development and skills excellence across priority sectors.

About the role
Join the team at the Institute of Applied Technology Digital (IATD), a National Centre of Excellence. This position is responsible for reviewing, testing, and developing applications to facilitate new use cases for the specialist technology at the IATD to ensure a high level of design accuracy and end product quality, focusing on growing the learning technology capability within TAFE. The position will explore and implement a range of interventions to ensure learning technologies support business intentions.
The role involves collaborating with product teams and partners to support design processes, develop demonstrations, and coordinate communication strategies. Responsibilities include integrating new technologies into products, providing expert guidance on specialist equipment, and engaging with industry to explore innovative techniques. You will be skilled in delivering strategic insights to leadership and have expertise in infrastructure configuration, orchestration tools, scripting languages, and network configuration.
In line with our working flexibly procedure, this position requires onsite campus attendance at Meadowbank for a minimum of three days per week, with the option of two days working from home. Based on operational needs, you may be required to travel to the Centre of Excellence Kingswood campus.
About you
We are seeking an experienced professional to operationalise the use of the AnyTown model and the Cyber Range Training Centre for TAFE-led delivery. You will be a proactive and innovative technology specialist with experience in application development, scripting, infrastructure technologies and system integration. You are naturally curious, enjoy solving complex problems and thrive in fast-paced environments where technology is constantly evolving. With strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, you can translate technical concepts into practical outcomes, collaborate effectively across teams and deliver high-quality solutions that enhance learning experiences and support organisational objectives.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Degree in a relevant discipline OR equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
- Experience with infrastructure configuration, management and orchestration tools.
- Proficient in one or more scripting languages and a sound understanding of network configuration.
Highly Regarded:
- Experience in the exploration, trialling, and implementation of emerging learning technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of Unity3D and strong C# programming experience.
- Experience with infrastructure configuration, management, and orchestration tools (Docker or equivalent)
- Proficient in shell and one or more scripting languages (e.g. Python, Ruby) and a sound understanding of network configuration (DNS, routing, security, protocols).
