Your day as an Associate Director

Join NSW Treasury’s Women’s Economic Outcomes Team, a high-impact team at the forefront of advancing gender responsive budgeting. As part of the Policy and Budget Group, the team provides strategic policy advice on women’s economic outcomes, delivers the annual Gender Equality Budget Statement and drives system-wide capability to embed a gender lens into policy development and decision-making.

As Associate Director, you will lead key projects that shape and strengthen gender responsive budgeting across NSW, provide expert policy advice, and build strong relationships across government and other jurisdictions to deliver meaningful reform. Working in a collaborative environment, you will manage a small team, oversee priority initiatives, and help influence policies and investments that improve economic outcomes for women. Flexible and part-time work arrangements are welcomed.

This is an exciting development opportunity for high-performing Grade 9/10 employees ready to broaden their experience, strengthen their strategic policy capability and contribute to work with real whole-of-government impact. In this role, you’ll build your understanding of the gender responsive budgeting agenda, support advice that advances women’s economic outcomes, and help embed a gender lens into policy development and decision-making across NSW Government.

Achieve success as an Associate Director

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

Sound understanding and professional experience working in public sector financial management, budget processes and/or gender responsive budgeting.
Demonstrated experience leading complex policy development or strategic projects from concept to delivery, utilising project management tools.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret economic, financial and qualitative data to provide evidence-based advice and influence decision-making.
Experience developing high-quality policy advice to influence investment decisions and outcomes.
Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders across government, and confidently represent an organisation in consultations, committees and working groups.
Strong people leadership capability, with experience managing and developing teams to deliver high-quality outcomes in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
