The Role
We are hiring a Communications & Public Relations Coordinator to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a public relations and communications role at the heart of a fast-moving, public-facing media business. You will plan and deliver communications across our portfolio of titles, build and protect the reputation of our brands, manage media and stakeholder relationships, and coordinate the publicity events and experiences through which our titles reach their audiences.
Bilingual English and French capability is central to the role. You will liaise with our Paris-based editorial partners, contributors and agencies, and adapt French-language editorial content for our Australian audience.
What you will be doingPublic Relations & Communications (core)
- Plan, develop and implement communications strategies that build awareness and understanding of our titles among readers, partners and the wider market
- Draft and distribute media releases, announcements, talking points, speeches, and web and social copy across all titles
- Act as a first point of contact for media, partner and public enquiries, and coordinate interviews, spokesperson briefings and media responses
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, broadcasters, PR agencies, partners and industry stakeholders in Australia and internationally
- Monitor media coverage and public sentiment and prepare reporting on communications activity and outcomes
- Maintain communications calendars and protect a consistent brand voice across editorial, sales and marketing
- Support partnership and advertiser communications, including launch announcements and co-branded messaging
Bilingual Liaison & Editorial Localisation
- Liaise directly with Paris-based editorial teams, contributors and PR agencies in French
- Translate and adapt articles, interviews and editorial features from Harper’s BAZAAR France and Esquire France into English for our Australian editions, holding the original voice and tone
- Negotiate with French suppliers and brief French crews in their language
Event & Experience Coordination
- Plan and deliver publicity events and brand experiences: product launches, cover reveals, reader experiences and industry functions
- Coordinate VIP events and experiences in Geneva for our watch publication, including Watches and Wonders activations, Maison and manufacture visits, collector dinners and novelty previews
- Manage our dedicated Sydney event space and travel to Melbourne for events including Australian Fashion Week, the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix and the Australian Open
- Own event logistics: venue, vendors, guest lists, VIP and influencer management, runsheets, on-site coordination, budgets and post-event reporting
Shoot Production Support
- Support producers with coordination of editorial and cover shoots across our titles, in Australia and Paris
- Liaise with French photographers, stylists, agents, location scouts and crews in French
- Build call sheets, schedules and budgets, and manage on-set logistics
Product, Community & Administration
- Coordinate product receiving, cataloguing, loans, returns, gifting and editorial credit across PR agencies and brands
- Support reader competitions, ambassador and influencer relationships, and community engagement
- Manage project boards, invoices, schedules, travel bookings and cross-title administration
What we need from you (Essential)
- Tertiary qualification and/or demonstrated experience in public relations, communications, media or a closely related field
- 2 to 3 or more years in communications, public relations, event coordination or a closely related role, ideally in media, publishing, fashion or lifestyle
- Fluent French, written and spoken, at near-native level. You will liaise with Paris partners, brief French crews and adapt French editorial copy. This is non-negotiable.
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft media releases, announcements and partner communications
- Exceptional written and verbal communication in both English and French
- Highly organised, calm under pressure, and able to manage multiple titles and time zones (AEDT / CET)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and project management tools (or similar)
- Available and willing to travel: Melbourne, Paris (approximately quarterly) and Geneva (aligned to the Swiss watch calendar), expenses covered
- Flexible with occasional evenings, early mornings and weekends for events and shoots
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally (Schengen access required)
Highly desirable
- Background in fashion, beauty, wellness, watch or lifestyle publishing
- Existing media, editorial or production network in Paris or Australia
- Familiarity with the luxury watch industry, Swiss Maisons and the Watches and Wonders / Geneva watch calendar
- Translation experience or qualification (NAATI, DALF C1/C2 or equivalent)
- Photography, content capture, or basic Canva / Adobe skills
- Italian or Spanish as a third language
