POSITION DESCRIPTION

EVENTS OPERATION MANAGER

Employment Type: Casual Availability - Weekends (with occasional weekday work as required)

Reports to: General Manager

Key Relationships: General Manager, Event & Operations Staff, Stallholders, Suppliers

Position Summary

The Event Operations Manager is responsible for the smooth delivery and overall management of Craft Markets Australia (CMA) and Hunt Gather Gander (HGG) market days. CMA operates markets across 8 picturesque locations in Victoria, each showcasing talented makers, designers, and food producers.

This role requires an experienced Event Manager who can confidently oversee all aspects of event delivery — from bump-in to bump-out — while ensuring safety, efficiency, and exceptional customer service. You will represent CMA to stallholders, suppliers, and the public, bringing professionalism, problem-solving skills, and a positive, hands-on attitude to every market day.

You will thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment, enjoy working as part of a close-knit team, and be passionate about creating memorable market experiences for our community.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver and oversee the safe, timely, and efficient running of CMA markets, including bump-in, during event operations, and bump-out.
Manage on-site safety for stallholders, staff, and patrons, ensuring compliance with CMA’s management plans (Risk, COVIDSafe, Emergency, Stallholder, Staff, and Traffic Management).
Be the leading emergency response for safety procedures.
Oversee stallholder and supplier relationships on market days, ensuring smooth communication and problem resolution.
Coordinate and brief CMA staff prior to market commencement.
Liaise with venue managers, suppliers, and key stakeholders to ensure operational success.
Manage OH&S and logistical requirements to deliver safe, compliant events.
Handle on-site administration and ensure efficient communication across teams.
Attend multiple event sites throughout the year, however primarily South East Melbourne and Mornington Peninsula.

Selection Criteria

Ideally minimum 2 years’ experience in event delivery, with a proven track record managing successful events.
Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Experience implementing operational and safety management plans.
Understanding of OH&S requirements for events.
Experience managing staff and coordinating multiple internal/external stakeholders.
Strong organisational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
Experience managing outdoor events.

Hours: Primarily weekends from bump-in to bump-out, with occasional weekday hours at CMA management discretion.
