ICEC Group is an Australian-owned electrical and communications contractor delivering across the full spectrum of commercial and industrial projects in Sydney — from high-end office fitouts for globally recognised brands, through to base build fitouts, refurbishments, and industrial installations. The majority of our work is delivered design and construct in-house, which means estimating sits at the heart of how we win and shape projects. We’re hiring a Junior Electrical Estimator to join our team at Taren Point — and we’re specifically looking for someone with a trade background ready to make the move.

The best estimators are the ones who’ve run the cable, terminated the switchboards, and chased the variations. You already know how a job goes together, what takes time, where the catches are, and what a realistic day on site looks like. That knowledge is exactly what makes an accurate estimate — and it’s why we’d rather train a sharp electrician than hire someone who’s only ever worked from a desk.
You’ll work directly alongside our senior estimators, project managers, and operations team. They’ve built their careers in this industry the same way you will — and they’ll teach you the commercial side from the ground up.
What you’ll be doing
- Reviewing project documentation, drawings, and specifications across a range of project types
- Preparing material take-offs and labour estimates
- Obtaining and assessing pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Assisting senior estimators with proposals, clarifications, and design and construct submissions
- Building a working knowledge of our preferred systems, suppliers, and delivery partners
- Site visits and walkthroughs as part of the proposal process
- Supporting handover from estimating to project delivery
What we’re looking for
- NSW Electrical Licence — Essential
- Proven experience on commercial or industrial projects
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
- Comfortable with computers — Excel, email, and willingness to learn estimating software
- A solid communicator who can hold their own with PMs, suppliers, and clients
- Organised, methodical, and accurate — estimating is a numbers game and detail matters
- Genuine interest in building a long-term career in estimating and electrical design
