SENIOR ESTIMATOR
Tier 2 Building & Construction | Sydney Metropolitan Area
Delta Talent is partnering with an established and highly regarded Sydney building contractor to find an experienced Senior Estimator to take ownership of the estimating function. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven, detail-focused estimator with strong Tier 2 experience to run significant tenders in the $5-20 million range end-to-end and play a key role in winning and delivering major building projects across the Sydney metro area.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a stand-alone estimating position. You'll be the sole estimator, owning the function from the ground up and reporting directly to the Operations Manager. You'll evaluate tender specifications and drawings, build strong subcontractor relationships, and prepare competitive, accurate bids from first principles through to submission and close-out, with the autonomy to shape processes as the team grows around you. You'll work closely with Project Management teams to ensure a seamless handover from tender win to project delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently manage the end-to-end estimating function across all live tenders as the team's sole estimator
- Prepare and manage subcontractor bid packages, plan reproduction and bid documentation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors and suppliers to secure competitive coverage and pricing
- Thoroughly review tender requirements, drawings and specifications, raising RFIs and clarifications as needed
- Perform detailed bid-day analysis and scoping for assigned trades, minimising exclusions and adding value-engineering ideas
- Follow up on submitted tenders and budgets with architects, clients and construction managers through to close of business
- Manage a smooth project turnover to the Project Management team, including job costing and buyout information
- Award subcontracts accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring subs are briefed on project schedules and requirements
- Seek out and qualify new subcontractors to strengthen the business's trade coverage
ABOUT YOU
- 5+ years' estimating experience within the building and/or construction industry
- Proven experience pricing and estimating projects in the $5-20 million range within the Tier 2 sector
- Essential: hands-on experience using Simpro estimating software
- Proven track record preparing and winning competitive tenders on commercial or residential building projects
- Strong existing network of subcontractors, vendors and industry contacts across Sydney
- Confident reading technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, self-driven approach with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Working knowledge of WHS, quality and environmental management systems (ISO9001 / ISO14001) is highly regarded

Pay: $140,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year
