Associate Director, Grants Assurance

Exciting opportunity to Join Corporate Services, a division within the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport

This is a Clerk Grade 11/12 role with a salary range of $154,231 - $178,369 per annum plus superannuation

Ongoing role based in Sydney, NSW - hybrid working arrangements may be available within business operational needs

The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS) unites the state’s key creative industries, Cultural Institutions, hospitality, entertainment, sports and tourism entities to bring vibrancy, enhance physical and social wellbeing and enrich cultural and creative experience and enterprise across NSW.

About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening the governance, compliance, and effectiveness of government grant programs. Reporting to senior leadership, you will lead a specialist team responsible for program assessment, evaluation, assurance, and risk management across a diverse grants portfolio.

You will work closely with executives, program teams, and stakeholders to develop and implement frameworks, policies, and processes that ensure grant programs are delivered in a transparent, accountable, and compliant way. The role provides expert guidance on grants governance, program design, evaluation, compliance reviews, and risk management, helping the organisation meet its obligations while driving continuous improvement.

As a trusted advisor, you will support the development of business cases, policy proposals, and grant initiatives, while providing high-quality advice and assurance to senior executives. You will also facilitate stakeholder engagement, lead assurance activities, and contribute to strategic decision-making that delivers positive outcomes for government and the community.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, influencing outcomes at a senior level, and making a meaningful impact through strong governance and program excellence.

About You

You are an experienced governance, assurance, risk, or program management professional with a strong understanding of grants administration, compliance, and evaluation principles.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Proven experience in governance, risk, assurance, evaluation, or grants administration.

Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, governance processes, and risk management principles.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex and sensitive issues.

Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with senior executives.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.

Most importantly, you are passionate about improving public sector outcomes through robust governance, effective risk management, and continuous improvement in program delivery.
