About Ferrari Logistics Australia
Ferrari Logistics Australia is part of the Ferrari Group, a global leader in the specialised shipping, warehousing and logistics management of luxury goods and valuables. With a powerful network of over 97 branches across 68 countries, the Ferrari Group delivers impeccable, tailor-made logistics solutions to some of the world's most prestigious brands, including high-end watchmakers, jewellery manufacturers, diamond dealers and private clients. In Australia, Ferrari Logistics continues to expand its operations with a focus on supply chain excellence and the highest standards of security, quality and customer service.
About the Role
The Logistics Manager carries end-to-end accountability for how that inventory flows through the Australian branch: what the branch buys in from carriers and service providers, how goods are held and secured in the Sydney vault, how consignments are released and moved to their destination, and what the client is told about each of those steps. The role sets the branch's supply, storage and movement strategy, decides which carriers and service providers the branch contracts with and on what terms, sets stock-holding and cost parameters, maintains the integrity of the branch's inventory and transaction records, leads the Sydney operations team, and reports on branch performance to the Country Manager and to Ferrari Group.
Key responsibilities and duties
- Branch supply chain strategy, policy and planning: Set and maintain the operating model for the Australian branch: how client goods enter the country (airfreight, hand-carry or sea), where and under what security grade they are held in Sydney, and which channels are used to reach boutiques, workshops, auction rooms, event venues and private addresses. Determine the branch’s annual operating and capital plans, decide what capability is bought in from third parties versus retained in-house, issue and review the written branch procedures that give effect to Ferrari Group’s global standards, and drive continuous improvement of those procedures using operational data, throughput analysis and incident review.
- Stock-holding, replenishment and cost parameters: Prepare and implement the branch’s holding plans for client-owned inventory held under storage agreement and for Ferrari’s own operating stock (tamper-evident packaging, security seals, kitting and wrapping materials, consumables). Set minimum holdings and reorder triggers so that client replenishment obligations and event deadlines are met, while keeping vault occupancy, working capital, freight spend and insurance premium exposure inside the branch budget. Model the cost impact of holding decisions and adjust parameters as client volumes, seasonal peaks and rate movements require.
- Supplier and carrier commercial negotiation: Negotiate, execute and renew the branch’s commercial agreements with armoured transport operators, airline and IATA partners, licensed customs brokers, secure packaging manufacturers, alarm and vault maintenance providers and insurance brokers. Run competitive rate reviews, benchmark service levels, transit times, liability caps and insured limits before committing the branch, and enforce agreed standards and pricing through structured supplier performance reviews. Escalate or replace suppliers that fail to meet contracted handling, timing or pricing standards.
- Vault, storage and inventory system oversight: Monitor and review the configuration and output of the branch’s in-house Warehouse Management System and the physical layout of the vault — grade-A safe, high-value cage, bonded area and staging zones — so that holdings can be located, segregated by client and reconciled at any time. Oversee daily cycle counts, periodic wall-to-wall audits and three-way reconciliation between system records, client manifests and physical holdings; investigate every variance to root cause. Reconfigure storage arrangements and system parameters when client profiles, security ratings or bond requirements change.
- Consignment tracking, records and re-stocking: Operate the branch’s track-and-trace discipline so that every movement of client goods — collection, vault receipt, kitting, quality control, hallmarking, customs clearance, release, despatch and proof of delivery — is scanned, time-stamped and visible to the client through Ferrari’s ICT platforms. Ensure re-ordering and re-stocking runs to boutiques, workshops and event stands are triggered at the point that keeps client counters supplied without leaving value exposed in transit or idle in the vault.
- Outbound coordination with clients and internal functions: Work across the branch’s customs, freight forwarding, ground transportation and security functions and directly with client logistics, retail and security contacts to confirm the requirements attaching to outward goods and to arrange the forwarding transportation to match: booking airfreight and armoured ground movements, agreeing collection and delivery windows for retail replenishment, exhibitions, private events and red-carpet work, and confirming that documentation, insurance declarations and security escorts are in place before goods leave the vault.
- Transaction records, reporting and budget control: Hold accountability for the completeness and accuracy of the branch’s transactional record: purchase orders raised against carriers and service providers, vault receipt and release entries, customs and bond entries, and despatch and delivery documentation. Approve month-end reconciliations, maintain the branch’s statistical and financial records, control expenditure against budget, and produce the branch’s reporting on inventory accuracy, cost per movement, on-time delivery and incident rates for the Country Manager and for Ferrari Group.
- Leadership, direction and performance of the operations team: Lead the Sydney operations team: allocate daily work and set rosters across receipt, handling, kitting, packing, despatch and ground movements; direct staff activity during peak periods, event deadlines and security-sensitive movements; and monitor individual and team performance against agreed measures through structured one-on-ones, probation reviews and annual appraisals. Recruit, induct and train staff in high-value handling and security protocol, manage conduct and performance issues, and build bench strength through cross-training and succession planning.
- Service delivery to luxury brand and private clients: Deliver the contracted service offering to the branch’s clients — international maisons, high-end watchmakers, jewellery manufacturers and distributors, diamond and precious stone dealers, auction houses, galleries and private clients — covering white-glove handling, stocktaking, kitting and wrapping, quality control inspection, hallmarking coordination, after-sales and returns processing, and event support. Design account-specific operating procedures to meet each client’s stated requirements, chair client operational reviews, and act as the branch escalation point where a client requirement falls outside standard scope or where a service failure occurs.
- Security, work health and safety, and regulatory compliance: Establish and enforce the branch’s security procedures for high-value goods — access control, dual custody, CCTV and alarm monitoring, escort protocols, key and combination control and incident response — and maintain compliance with NSW security licensing conditions, work health and safety legislation, Australian Border Force bond obligations, and Ferrari Group and insurer requirements. Investigate loss, damage, near-miss and security incidents and implement corrective action.
