The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a SCC Operations Support Officer to provide a critical role at Emergency Management Victoria.

About the Business Unit

Emergency Management, within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the Department) works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio. The group is led by the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management. Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities and statutory entities and offices.

Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).

About the Role

The purpose of the Operations directorate is to lead the emergency operational coordination and state operations in Victoria by working with communities, government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

The role works on a 24/7 rostered basis. The incumbent will be required to regularly work outside normal business hours and on weekends.

Some of your duties will include:

Support workplace culture and practices that achieve EMVs strategic objectives, including:Ensure the effective agency communication flows to internal and external stakeholders. This involves extensive use of phone, SMS, email, internet and agency applications as appropriate

participating in the PDP process, ensuring goals are meaningful and measurable and compliance with all requirements;
contributing to a safe and healthy working environment and engaging positively with all staff across EMV;
maintaining compliance with all governance requirements.

Provide SCC administrative support to ensure the operational functions of the SCC are in accordance with requirements and are delivered in an efficient and effective manner.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's emergency management arrangements is desirable
Understanding of the State's Command and Control arrangements that operate within Victoria is desirable
Experience with coordination within emergency management activities is desirable.
