About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project & Services Support Engineer to join our Mascot team on a full-time basis, provide advanced engineering expertise and technical leadership across our customer and internal delivery teams.
This role combines project delivery, device engineering, technical support, service operations, and customer engagement to ensure the successful deployment and ongoing performance of smart metering and communications solutions across the ANZ and Southeast Asia region.
Working closely with customers, product development, operations, and engineering teams, you will play a pivotal role in delivering reliable, scalable, and high-performing metering and communications infrastructure while driving continuous improvement across service and project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery & Technical Support:
Lead complex troubleshooting activities across devices, communications networks, integrations, and IP-based transport environments.
Act as a SME for connectivity performance, interoperability, and reliability across cellular, RF Mesh, Wi-SUN, and hybrid network environments.
Support device deployment, configuration, testing, commissioning, and validation activities.
Verify end-to-end connectivity and data transport between field devices, Head End Systems (HES) and operational platforms.
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for communications and network-related issues.
Drive preventative and corrective actions to improve network performance, resilience, and reliability.
Coordinate and support major incident management activities when required.
Ensure customer issues are resolved effectively and communicated professionally throughout the lifecycle.
Project Delivery & Change Management:
Support the successful delivery of customer projects and contractual commitments.
Assist with technical scoping, planning, and implementation of customer change requests.
Develop and maintain technical documentation including runbooks, SOPs, implementation plans, and troubleshooting guides.
Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of assigned activities.
Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement:
Support deployment and integration of communications infrastructure and applications.
Monitor, analyse, and report on technical service levels and operational performance.
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for service improvement.
Collaborate closely with Product, R&D, QA, and Operations teams to resolve issues and improve service delivery outcomes.
Introduction-to-Service (ITS) & Release Readiness:
Develop and execute ITS test plans for firmware, software, and product releases.
Support release planning, technical validation, monitoring, and deployment activities.
Assist with rollout strategies, fallback planning, and post-release support.
Contribute to the evolution of Grid Edge and smart network capabilities through validation of new communications architectures and interoperability models.
Customer Engagement & Technical Leadership:
Act as a senior technical interface between customers and internal engineering teams.
Present technical findings, RCA outcomes, and improvement initiatives during customer reviews.
Provide technical consulting support to Account Managers, Project Managers, and Sales teams.
Build trusted customer relationships through responsive and professional service delivery.
Support the development of technical standards, best practices, and engineering knowledge across the organisation.
About You
Minimum 5 years' experience in engineering, communications, metering, IoT, device operations, or related technical environments.
Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Information Technology, Communications, Computer Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Certifications such as ITIL Foundation, PRINCE2, Kepner-Tregoe, or similar incident/problem management certifications (desirable).
Project coordination or project management experience (preferred).
Demonstrated experience delivering projects involving both hardware and software-based solutions.
Strong experience in device deployment, commissioning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Knowledge of Cellular communications (LTE, NB-IoT), RF Mesh / Wi-SUN networks, IPv4 and IPv6 networking, network routing, tunnelling, and communications architectures.
Experience supporting incident management, service operations, and release activities.
Exposure to AMI, smart metering, utilities, or Grid Edge technologies will be highly regarded.
Strong stakeholder engagement, customer-facing, and communication skills.
Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
