Full Job Description

We are seeing an experienced passionate Chef/Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in day to-day kitchen operations, and maintaining food quality standards

Duties as Chef

Assist the Sous chef and Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and service coordination
Supervise food preparation and ensure presentation meets the restaurant’s standards
Lead and support the kitchen team during service under supervision of the sous chef particularly in the Head Chef’s absence
Ensure all kitchen activities are compliant with food safety and OH&S regulations
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to maintain skill development and consistency
Assist with rostering, inventory management, and stock ordering
Monitor food costs, wastage, and portion control
Contribute to seasonal menu planning and the development of daily specials
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment at all times
Attend staff meetings and contribute to a positive workplace culture

Duties as Cook

Required Skills and Experience

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen
Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or higher)
Strong knowledge of modern Australian cuisine and plating standards
Ability to manage kitchen service under pressure
Sound understanding of HACCP and food safety procedures
Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills
Effective communication and time management
Flexible availability to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays

Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience and will be in the range $76,600 to $80,000.
