Location: 11 Riverview Place, Murarrie QLD 4172 (QML Pathology)

Work type: Full Time (Max Term) hours per week

Schedule: This position will participate in our scientist and technicial rotating roster, with 7.6hr shifts starting from 0600 through to starting at 0900 Monday to Friday each week.

QML Pathology is a Healius business. Healius has an expansive network of over 100 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia’s largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities. About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Immunology Scientist who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team who will be responsible for:

Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing
Performing all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection
Assisting with Stock Control
Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols
Maintaining current scientific knowledge
Participating in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
Participating in training staff
Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Scientist in a diagnostic laboratory is essential
Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
The ability to manage and thrive in a busy environment
Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
