About the Roles:
We’re on the lookout for
Experienced and Trainee Construction Materials Testing Technicians to join our Petrie Laboratory team. This hands-on role involves working both in our Petrie lab and at local quarries, carrying out aggregate testing. You’ll start with full training at our Brendale Laboratory before moving into day-to-day operations at Petrie. Regular travel to other quarries will be part of your day, so you’ll need to be comfortable driving between sites.
At the quarry, you’ll collect and prepare rock and aggregate samples, run tests to measure their strength, size, and durability, and record your findings for client reports. It’s a mix of lab work and field work, with plenty of time outdoors and on your feet.

What’s in It for You:
- Start time: Generally 6am or 7am, 37.5 hr week + overtime
- Experienced CMT Wages: Negotiable depending on experience
- Trainee Wages: $20 – $28 per hour (starting at $20 for trainees aged 18 years, with the pay rate increasing by age and trainee classification, in line with the Award).
Junior trainees (under 21) are paid at the applicable Award junior rate, while adult trainees receive $28/hr.
