The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. We’re focused on

communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and
wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research. It’s all part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life.

About the role:

There are 2 roles available for this ongoing opportunity- please view position description of each role.

The Policy and Program Officer works within the Implementation Planning and Design team in the Reform Governance, Planning and Service Design Branch. The team is responsible for planning, designing and supporting the implementation of new mental health and wellbeing services to ensure alignment with reform objectives and fidelity across the system. It works in collaboration with others and supports continuous improvement of mental health and wellbeing services through effective, strategic engagement. The team will initially focus on the delivery and continuous improvement of Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Services, a flagship reform of the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System.

Working closely with the Manager, the Policy and Program Officer supports service planning, design and implementation activities. This includes coordinating stakeholder engagement, providing secretariat support, and contributing to the development and review of key documents to support effective service delivery and continuous improvement across the system.

The role requires strong organisational and written communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams and with a range of stakeholders in a dynamic policy and delivery environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have good communication skills and be experienced in providing advice and delivering projects in a complex environment.

Support the delivery of team responsibilities as directed

Qualification/Specialist Expertise

A tertiary qualification in fields related to public health, public policy or health administration would be desirable.
A sound understanding of the Victorian mental health and wellbeing system and knowledge of the department and its operating processes and information systems is desirable.
