Full Job Description

Join Our Growing Team at PrimeMedix Medical Centre!

We are seeking experienced, professional and patient-focused Medical Receptionists to join our growing team. If you are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and supporting high-quality patient care in a modern general practice, we would love to hear from you.

Expected Shifts:

2–4 shifts per week
Morning Shift: 7:45 am – 1:00 pm
Afternoon Shift: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Shifts will be rostered across Monday to Friday based on the needs of the practice and your availability.

Expected Hours: Approximately 10–25 hours per week

About the Role

As the first point of contact for our practice, you will play an integral role in creating a welcoming, respectful and efficient patient experience while supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare. You will work closely with General Practitioners, nurses and the practice management team to ensure the smooth operation of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

Provide a professional, friendly and compassionate first point of contact for all patients and visitors.
Welcome patients and accurately manage appointments using Best Practice software.
Maintain accurate patient registration details and verify patient identity in accordance with practice procedures.
Answer telephone calls, respond to enquiries and manage electronic communications professionally.
Identify patients requiring urgent clinical attention and promptly notify the appropriate clinical staff in accordance with practice protocols.
Process Medicare, DVA, WorkCover, private billin and EFTPOS transactions accurately.
Manage electronic medical records, scanning, correspondence and document workflows.
Liaise with GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, specialists, hospitals and pathology providers to support coordinated patient care.
Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act and practice policies.
Follow infection prevention and control procedures within the reception and waiting areas.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe reception environment.
Assist with stock management and general administrative duties.
Participate in quality improvement activities, accreditation processes and ongoing professional development.
Follow practice emergency procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.

About You

You should have:

Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist (minimum 1 year preferred).
Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
A friendly, professional and compassionate manner.
Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
Confidence using Best Practice or similar clinical software.
Sound computer literacy and administrative skills.
Experience with Medicare billing and private billing processes.
Understanding of patient confidentiality and privacy obligations.
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a busy environment.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative healthcare team.
A commitment to patient-centred care and continuous improvement.
