Full Job Description

The Shed Café Schofields is looking for an experienced and reliable Cook to join our friendly team.

We are conveniently located next to Coles, approximately a five-minute walk from Schofields Station and around 20 minutes by train from Parramatta Station.

Do you enjoy working with fresh ingredients and preparing delicious, well-presented food? Are you comfortable working independently as well as within a small team? Do you prefer early starts and early finishes? This could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items safely, consistently and efficiently.
Follow recipes, portion guides and presentation standards.
Assist with ordering, receiving and correctly storing stock.
Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen.
Ensure utensils and equipment are cleaned and sanitised before use.
Complete kitchen cleaning and closing duties at the end of each shift.
Assist with customer orders and POS transactions when required.
Follow all food safety and workplace hygiene requirements.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A minimum of six months of food preparation or commercial kitchen experience.
Confidence using commercial-grade knives and kitchen equipment.
The ability to follow detailed recipes and preparation guides.
A strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail.
The ability to work confidently alone and as part of a small team.
A good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
Experience using a POS cash-register system, or willingness to learn.
Availability across weekdays, weekends and public holidays when required.
Availability to work at least one weekend day each week.
A Food Safety Supervisor certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
Full and valid working rights in Australia.
