Your Role

As a part-time Chaplain, Doctor or Psychologist in the Army Reserve, you’ll use your skills and degree in range of different environments on Army bases as well as out in the field on exercises and deployments around Australia and overseas.

If you’re looking to experience adventure and excitement outside the everyday, earn tax-free pay and work as part of a close-knit team, this is an exciting opportunity that can fit around your lifestyle and career goals.

Browse from the following part-time health and wellbeing roles:

Provide pastoral care and spiritual support to members of the Army and their families as a Chaplain.
Provide quality healthcare and medical intervention in health centres or deployable units to keep the Army fit and effective as a Doctor.
Use your understanding of human behaviour in mental health settings, recruitment selection and organisational systems as a Psychologist.

Boost your Income

On completion of your initial military and employment training, you could earn from $322 to $380 per day tax-free, depending on your role.

Additional amounts are paid for time spent on exercises and deployments.

Eligibility:
For this role, you must:

Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment and an Australian Citizen.
If you are not an Australian Citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details https://www.adfcareers.gov.au/careers/joining/eligibility
Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare.
Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance.

For the specific roles, you must:

Chaplain: Have a Bachelor level degree in one of the endorsed fields listed in the full position description linked below, ordination evidence and at least 2 years pastoral ministry experience.
Doctor: Have a Bachelor level degree in medicine, completed a hospital internship, be registered as a medical practitioner, and have 6 months recognised experience in general practice.
Psychologist: Be registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and currently working as a Psychologist with a civilian employer.
