Full Time Exercise Physiologist
YMCA Aquatic & Event Services Ltd has an exciting opportunity available in our well-established, friendly allied health business, and we are seeking an outstanding Exercise Physiologist for a permanent position to join our team.
The role blends allied health expertise with adaptive aquatic coaching to grow SA’s Para swimming pathway. You will be supporting the identification and development of swimmers with high-support physical impairments (S1–4) and vision impairments (VI) across South Australia.
The position is located at one of Australia’s Premier Aquatic Facilities, the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre. A state-of-the-art indoor aquatic and gym facility, providing more than 1,000 square metres of water space, together with full gym and rehab gym facilities to meet varied elite and community needs. The facility provides opportunities for all South Australian’s to ‘be active’.
The available position is full time and will follow the Fair Work Health Professionals and Support Services Award. Rates are dependent on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities

Conduct thorough health and fitness assessments

Customise programs to meet individual client's needs and goals with a strong focus on sustainable outcomes and self-management

Monitor and re-evaluate client's progress towards goals and outcomes
-
Responding to the needs of a broad range of clients with varying conditions
-
Work with the SASI Para Unit to identify and engage potential S1–4 and VI athletes through clubs, schools, community networks, and allied health partners.

Support athletes through early development, classification, and pathway progression.

Deliver safe, adaptive coaching tailored to individual functional ability.

Build capability across SA clubs and coaches to strengthen inclusive practice.

Operate effectively within a team setting and communicate with other health professionals

Recognise and uphold the rights of all clients accessing services, including maintaining cultural sensitivity & confidentiality

Building networks and marketing the business, both internally and externally
-
Compliance with privacy and working with children legislation
-

Requirements
-
The ability to prescribe exercise programs for use in well-equipped gym
-
The ability to confidentially prescribe home based exercises
-
Experience in swimming coaching or aquatic instruction.
-
Experience working with individuals with physical or vision impairments.
-
Strong understanding of adaptive movement and safe aquatic practice.
-
Para‑sport experience, knowledge of S1–S14 classification, talent ID experience, understanding of performance pathways

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience interacting with a wide range of people

Self-motivated with the ability to function independently

A want to understand and assist with bookings and payment administration

A want to contribute to business development

Socially perceptive; aware of reactions of others and self-awareness

TGA approved COVID-19 Vaccine (unless proven exempt by a legally qualified medical practitioner)
Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology

Current ESSA Registration
-
Current National Police and Working with Children Checks
-
Current First Aid and CPR certification
