Primary objective
Provide high level advice and strategic leadership to the Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Servicesportfolio of the
Department of Education and Training to ensure the effective design, delivery and implementation of reform initiatives related to inclusive
education and student wellbeing and positive behaviour.
Context statement
Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services is part of Inclusion and Engagement Services, which provides differentiated
support services to reform inclusion and improve engagement and access to learning for children, students and communities. Student
Wellbeing and Inclusion provides advice, guidance and support to clients and stakeholders to ensure all children and students are
welcomed into an inclusive learning environment and are able to engage effectively with education and learn to their full potential.
Key duties and responsibilities
• Lead the development of strategic reform initiatives regarding inclusive education in collaboration with key internal and external

stakeholders.

Lead stakeholder engagement and consultation including the design phase of new inclusive education programs to facilitate

communication, collaboration and engagement with all stakeholders both internally and externally including the community.

Provide strategic oversight,monitoring review and adjustment of the department’s inclusive education strategy research, innovation

and reform, including inter-jurisdictional scanning.

Provide strategic advice, liaison and communication with internal and external stakeholders and agencies regarding inclusive

education and student wellbeing strategy including design phase consultation.

Use data and research to provide evidence based advise, data analysis and reporting for key inclusion and student wellbeing data sets

across the department. This includes oversight of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD), including implementation,
quality assurance and use of insights to inform system improvement and resource allocation.

Ensure alignment of resources and strategy and lead the ongoing evolution of a sustainable, innovative, relevant, and fit-for-purpose

inclusive education model.

Ensure reform priorities are evidence-based and grounded in operational realties to ensure they are responsive to the needs of

families, schools and students with disability.

Lead, manage and develop staff, including setting clear expectations, performance management, capability development and fostering

a high-performing team delivering coordinated reform outcomes across competing priorities and tight timeframes.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level experience in identifyint, leading, developing and implementing strategic reform initiatives and projects in the areas of

inclusive education, student wellbeing and professional learning.
2. High level knowledge and understanding of the legislative frameworks related to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
3. Demonstrated high level leadership experience and skills in leading a team and identifying and allocating resources to deliver project

and program outcomes on budget, within tight timeframes in a context of high demand and competing priorities.
4. Exceptional collaboration and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working relationships

and strategic alliances with key internal and external stakeholders particularly in the areas of student inclusion and wellbeing.
5. Strong cultural capability, including demonstated ability to interact and work effectively with people from diverse cultures and to

deliver culturally responsive education reforms.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in education or a field relevant to the key responsibilities of the position.
2. Knowledge and understanding of legislative and policy frameworks related to inclusive education and student wellbeing, including

the Disability Standards for Education 2005.

Corporate conditions apply to this position. The applicant must have a current Working with Children Notice Clearance and hold or be
willing to obtain a current NT driver’s licence. Visits to remote schools and regions may necessitate travel by four wheel drive vehicle on
unsealed roads or light aircraft and include overnight stays in remote communities of up to four days. Four wheel drive training will be
provided by the Department of Education and Training.
